MMSF-funded researcher featured in PortageOnline

Details:

Brandon University professor Dr. Kathryn Chachula was recently featured in PortageOnline to talk about her MMSF-funded work.

Her project, “Effectiveness of a Psychological Body Armour™ (PBA) Course in Building Resilience Among Nurses in Manitoba,” aims to determine if an online, ten-module Psychological Body Armor course helps nurses develop resilience and post-traumatic growth, as well as decreases stress, depression and anxiety.

“Nurses regularly face intense stress, violence, trauma, and emotional demands in their work,” Dr. Chachula told PortageOnline. “This research is about proactively supporting nurses’ mental health with knowledge and tools that foster resilience, recovery, and growth when confronted by difficult experiences.”

Nurses will have the opportunity to provide feedback about the PBA course three to six months after completion to see how effectively the course helped manage stressful events.
